Veteran Reporters Discuss Coverage of Crime

The program features an interview with two veteran newspaper reporters with approximately 40 years of combined reporting experience. They are Robert Pierre of the Washington Post and Peter Hermann of the Baltimore Sun. Both papers have histories of meaningful coverage of crime related issues. Both write articles/columns producing analytical examinations of crime and the justice system.

RI DWI Program Matches Offenders and Victims With Students

This program features an interview with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections’ Chief of Information and Public Relations Tracey Z. Poole discussing an innovative public safety initiative in which a panel of male and female offenders doing long sentences for DUI-Death Resulting crashes, along with a parent of a victim of such a crash, speak to student and parent groups in a prison visiting room about the devastating consequences of their choices.

Data generated from the program state that nearly half of participating students said they were a passenger in a vehicle operated by someone who had been drinking.
