The program features an interview with Assistant Chief Diane Groomes of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and Trifari Williams, a veteran member of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency’s (CSOSA) sex offender unit. This program was recorded prior to MPD and CSOSA doing joint visits to the residences of 181 child sex offenders on Halloween, 2008. Facts:

13 joint police and parole and probation-sex offender unit teams will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or later if necessary

Offenders were provided with a letter during routine contacts stating that they could not decorate or participate in Halloween activities. They were instructed to be home between 6:00 and 11:00 p.m.

The teams will make random visits of other categories of sex offenders. There are 584 sex offenders under CSOSA’s supervision. Approximately 100 are supervised via GPS or global positioning systems. Their GPS tracks will be compared to reported crimes on Halloween
