I saw the program on the web. I really find it useful. The program interviews Will Marling, Executive Director of the National Organization for Victim Assistance and The Honorable Richard Barajas, Chief Justice, Senior Status, Texas Court of Appeals. Both addressed a judicial view of victim rights.
Thank you and looking for

As a doctor being educated in crimes and victims of crimes it is important to remember there are crime victim assistance programs throughout the United States. Finding the most appropriate program may involve calling several different numbers and/or visting multiple websites, but you will find help.

What a total waste of resources since there has never been one documented case of a registered sex offender ever molesting a child whilr trick or treating.

Sex Offenders Not a Halloween Scare

" Beware the Halloween bogeyman! by: Karen Franklin, Ph.D.

We are manufacturing sex offenders by including people who are no threat to anyone and who have harmed no one. We've sparked undue paranoia and made it more difficult to identify the real sex offenders, the ones people should actually be concerned with

I believe the REAL Boogyman are the news media and politicians who use fear mongering for ratings and votes.

Happy Halloween. Watch the traffic."

I had the pleasure of interacting with Mr. Atkinson at a community-based event. He was passionate about his work with the ex-offenders. All who interacted with him were very impressed about his committment, professionalism and knowledge base. It was a pleasure to see a CSOSA staff person with so much going for me. My experience with other staff has not been so pleasant. I heard that he is no longer with the organization. WHAT A LOSS! I hope that his replacement is as passionate.

Hi,
I'm looking specifically for a Half-way house, Christian-based for my nephew coming out of jail in the next 6 mos. We're located in Wicomico County, Salisbury, MD or within 30 miles. Every place I seem to click on has a fee. He has no money, insurance, etc.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great interview we need more information about women offenders. It would be wonder if we could hear an interview with adult children who experienced parental incarceration while growing up.
I am executive director of ORCA a prisoner reentry agency in Northwest Indiana.

I am in Central Illinois and would like to start a program for women getting out of prison in our community to help them re-enter society - be given a second chance - and keep them from going back and being lost in the system. Please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Interesting way to use creative marketing methods to bring some public awareness of this topic. As a person, I personally think that very few people have any clue as to what these organizations actually are all about. Most people seem to have the idea that you guys are bringing (ex)convicts into their neighborhoods. Kudos.

Why the heck not allow the use of a system that is 99% accurate. If it stops one child from being targetted by these individuals, it is worth the effort in my opinion.

I am a recent felony offender, who was released and given another opportunity in society by my faith in God and those who mentored me while in prison. I am currently employed by the government as a letter carrier, and an evangelist in my church home. I do also mentor those in prison, and would like an opportunity to also mentor inside of the prison system. Could you please give me the information necessary to obtain clearance and permission to do so? Where would I send it and how would I initiate the plan?

Thanks for your time; my name is Pastor P. of Pueblo/Elpaso County Colorado. I would like to start a one stop reentry center. We have the mentors, housing, churches, drug counsolers, volunteers etc.. We have plenty of ex-offenders. We just need the funds to offset the cost. Your program model would help also. Is it possible to get information and advice in these areas? We will be having our second meeting with many faithbase and community leaders Feb. 1st. It would be nice to have some direction before the first.

I am the Executive Director of a faith-based non-profit organization focused primarily on ex-offenders. You talk about having little public safety issues with women. Safety as far as violence is concerned may be different between men and women but we are not safe from children being victims such as an over burdened foster care system, broken homes for kids to grow up in in which they continue these destructive behavior patterns. The community has to pick up an enormous financial burden because of women and men offenders and their behavior. You down play the impact of their crime on society as a whole. Your main emphasis was on women being less violent and they are more often the recipients of violence. The cost of crime on society is far more related to the behavior of men and women and billions of dollars lost due to behavior of men and women regardless of gender. This issue whether man or woman comes down to what that person believes to be true. They make their decisions based on their beliefs. Until they change their beliefs about their lives they are resigned to repeat their behavior. You also said women in the prerelease facility felt safe in their facility and they could get a GED and prepare for a career and receive drug treatment. All of these programs are available to them outside of prison too. In most cases these opportunities will not cost a dime. This seems to me to deflect the real reason for ones behavior. They believe the behavior they engage in will give them something they want. These decisions are made for immediate gratification and not investing for their future. They don't see a future. This is true for both men and women.

I really enjoyed this podcast. I am seeking information on ways to be a benefit to my church which supports a transitional housing program for men and women being released from jail and prison in the state of Florida. I feel called to this ministry and, being very close with the pastors, I am exploring ways in which God may use me. Unfortunately in working with and having a congregation that is largely people rentering from prison or the homeless population we find that the funds recieved through or weekly offering to be very low. I am good with words, organization and writing so I am reserchin grant writng for faith-based organizations. I have only just begun this research and I already feel overwhelmed. I would appreciate any advice or information. Thank-you.

I also come from the juvinile, girls ranch, foster home, jail and prison system. My life through this all; was a hell hole. I've experinced the Nuestra Familia gangs, fights, and even started a riot in the womens prison, the blood that was shed can never be erased from this gang life style. "It can only be erased when I am out there telling another human being that this life style is no way to live". Thank God for saving me and setting me free from the inhumane life. Jesus Christ is my higher power he gives me the strenth; To live for him, To add to his kingdom. Nobody deserves to be locked up!
I am very discourged upon my release, the job search is not looking good in my life, I could really use a mentor to understand where I'm at. I have to live with my mom and I have this as a grown man, she had to buy me clothes and shoes and from the way it looks winter items, I've sold drugs for most of my life now I'm trying my best to change but no one will give me a chance, also I have a physical disabilty the prevent me from standing or sitting for long periods of time, I was a victum of a driveby shooting with 3 ak47 wounds to one side of my body, so I no God is real, I just feel like he has forgotten about me. Thank You Edrick R. Spearman.

As a previously incarcerated person, I'm very interested in how this organization can help me and how I can assist in the growth of the same. At present, I've taken the initiative to assist similar situated person with absolutely no assistance.

Dispite the uphill battle that I face, in my attempts to make a difference,
I remain motivated.
