Current Radio Program:

The program addresses an action plan for reentry in Washington, D.C. The District of Columbia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) convened a Reentry Steering Committee and over the course of 2011 committees met and provided recommendations on the subjects of Education and Training; Employment; Healthcare; Housing and Juvenile Reentry.

There will be a public meeting on Thursday, February 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Old City Council Chamber at 441 4th. street.

Those interviewed include: Cedric Hendricks, Associate Director, Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency; Charles Thornton, Director, Office on Returning Citizen Affairs and Chris Shorter, Chief of Staff, Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services.

The program interviews Francey Hakes, National Coordinator, Child Exploitation, Prevention and Interdiction for the US Department of Justice. Our second guest is Nickolas Savage, Supervisory Special Agent and Acting Section Chief of the Cyber Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The program focused on the Attorney General’s national strategy to coordinate all criminal justice and allied agencies to deter and prevent the sexual exploitation of children and to apprehend child sex offenders. Messages to parents regarding age appropriate discussions with children was also emphasized.

Founded in 1968, The Urban Institute is considered one of the premier  research based think-tanks in the United States. “Urban” has a long history examining national and local anti-crime initiatives.

The focus of the radio program in the application of  crime research to states and cities through lessons learned in Washington, D.C.
