Your program isvery impressive and appealing.
I have a 30 yrs old deaf , mentally ill son in prison who is due to be released in November of 2008. He had lived in Wahshington DC in the past and would like to return there because of the large deaf population and the mental health program in the area, but was told he needs some one to supervise him during his time of transition. Could you give mesome information on how he can get in touch with some one from your program to see if he will be eligible to get a mentor.
I appreciate your help

This an excellent program. I am a Supervisor with Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department in Houston Texas. Over the past four years, we have been colloborating with Faith Based entities. They have opened their doors to us; allowing us to conduct office visits with our clients at their facilities. We try to utilized the one stop shop method; where a client can see his probation officer, perform his CSR, attend substance abuse and anger management classes as well as participate in a GED program. The Church offers mentoring to these youthful offenders ages (17-26) I am hoping and praying that when colloboratging with faith based agencies; clients are more likely to succeed on community supervision. Excellent article

Excellent post. I've always felt that one-to-one mentoring is the way to go in order to help people escape the clutches of the prison system. By helping faith-based organizations with this endeavor, lives can be changed and the government will have less people who need our help in our overcrowded prisons.
